JCR motion passed!!!

we passed a motion (which you can find in the resources section) calling the college to adopt an exclusion clause against companies investing in arms, and urging them to consider adopting an ethical investment policy.

it was confronted with few objections, some about the fact that producing arms is not bad per se and there is a need for defence equipment, some about concerns regarding the profitability of ethical funds. As a piece of advice from people thinking to pass similar motions, it would be advisable to premptively address these issues in the JCR motion itself or in the brief presentation of the motion before the discussion.

ps: the motion passed with a little amendement, with a new point in the 'this JCR resolves' bit, saying that the JCR thanks the College for having disclosed its investments and encourages the college to keep doing so in the future
