Latest on the New College SRI campaign

Two weeks ago we had a well attended meeting where it was decided how best to move forward. The Bursar has put the onus on the group to prove that the JCR as a whole is interested in/supportive of the campaign before we can move forward. In view of this it has been decided to put together a questionnaire to judge the attitudes of the JCR and MCR.

At today's (Friday of 7th week) meeting, the questionnaire was put together, based in part on the phrasing of the Co-op Bank's ethical policy. I don't believe that the JCR is truly apathetic on this issue, rather that most of the time people are simply uninformed. Furthermore, students do not tend to realise the power they hold and the enormous impact that investment decisions can have, not only in terms of our resources but also our influence as an educational institution.

The questionnaire should be distributed by the beginning of 8th week - the results are hopefully to be published at the beginning of next term.
